Submission Guidelines

The Practical Informatics and Technology Journal (PRACTIC) welcomes the submission of manuscripts that contribute to the fields of informatics, computer science, and applied technology. Authors should adhere to the following guidelines to ensure that their submissions meet the required standards. All submitted manuscripts are subject to peer review and must conform to the ethical policies of the journal.

1. Submission of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be submitted via the journal's online submission system (OJS). Submissions through email or physical copies will not be accepted.

All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise Indonesian or English, and authors are encouraged to have their work proofread by native or fluent speakers before submission if necessary.

Submissions must be original work, not under consideration by other publications, and must not have been previously published.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be formatted as follows:

2.1. General Structure

Title Page: The title should be concise and informative. Include the name(s) of the author(s), their affiliations, and the email address of the corresponding author.

Abstract: Provide an abstract of 150–250 words, written in both Indonesian and English. The abstract should clearly summarize the problem, method, key results, and implications of the research.

Keywords: Include 3–5 relevant keywords for indexing and search purposes.

Main Text:

  • Introduction: Clearly state the background, problem statement, and objectives of the research.
  • Literature Review/Related Work: Summarize relevant existing research or systems and identify gaps your study addresses.
  • Methodology: Describe the research design, system design, development approach, tools, and analysis techniques used.
  • Results and Discussion: Present the main findings, system implementation, testing results, or performance evaluation clearly with appropriate tables, figures, or diagrams.
  • Conclusion: Summarize the key findings and suggest avenues for future research or development.

Acknowledgments: Optionally, acknowledge any individuals, institutions, or organizations that supported the research.

References: Include only those references cited in the text.

2.2. Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Manuscripts should be in Times New Roman, size 12.
  • Spacing: The document should be 1.5-spaced, with 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
  • Length: Manuscripts should generally be between 4,000 and 7,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
  • Tables and Figures: Tables, figures, system architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and screenshots should be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text. Provide clear captions and ensure that all figures and tables are of high resolution and easy to interpret.
  • Source Code: Code snippets, if included, should be presented in a monospaced font (e.g., Courier New) and limited to the essential portions relevant to the discussion.

3. Citation and Reference Style

PRACTIC follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition reference style. All sources cited in the text should be listed in the reference section, and all listed references should be cited in the text. Authors are encouraged to use a reference management application such as Mendeley or Zotero.

In-text citation examples:

  • Single author: (Rahman, 2023)
  • Two authors: (Putra & Lestari, 2024)
  • More than two authors: (Santoso et al., 2025)

Journal article:

4. Ethical Considerations

Authors must adhere to the ethical standards as described in the Publication Ethics of the journal. This includes ensuring the originality of their work and source code, avoiding plagiarism, and disclosing any potential conflicts of interest. All manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using similarity-checking software prior to review.

5. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to PRACTIC are subject to a double-blind peer review process. This means that both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Authors should ensure that no identifying information is included within the main manuscript file to maintain anonymity.

6. Revisions

If revisions are requested by the reviewers or editors, authors are expected to submit the revised manuscript within the given time frame. When resubmitting, authors should also include a detailed response letter explaining how each reviewer's comments have been addressed.

7. Publication Fee

Currently, PRACTIC does not charge submission or publication fees. However, any fees for language editing or proofreading are the responsibility of the author.

8. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement. All published articles in PRACTIC are available under an open-access license (CC BY), which allows others to share and adapt the work, provided the original author and source are properly credited.
